To be very successful, one has to be both extremely reasonable, and reasonably extreme.

The opposite of a good strategy is often another good strategy.  The opposite of a bad strategy is often just common sense.

Punctuated equilibrium.  In business, as in evolution, there are long periods of small, predictable change follow by short period of intense, chaotic change.  Many who thrive in the ordinary times are unable to adapt to the interesting ones, but those who will be legendary wait their whole lives for these opportunities.
